Tories fail to halt Hip implementation - National Homebuyers

Industry = Real Estate

Press Release Summary = The Conservative Party\'s parliamentary motion to halt the
introduction of home introduction packs (Hips) has failed, it has been confirmed.

Press Release Body = As a result, the Hip roll-out will proceed as planned, which
will see them come into play on June 1st this year.

A 45-minute debate between MPs was held over the proposed scrapping of Hips, before
a vote was taken.

The government prevailed with a majority of 72 votes.

However, Conservative shadow housing minister Michael Gove remains unrepentant,
emphasising his belief that the packs will disrupt the housing market.

\"Home information packs will be the biggest, jarring intervention in the housing
market since Nigel Lawson abolished mortgage interest tax relief,\" Mr Gove said.

\"History teaches us that you play politics with people\'s homes at your peril. But
that is just what Labour ministers are doing.\"

He especially criticised Hips\' prohibitive cost, estimated at £300-£600.

The legislation can be skirted, though, by selling property to National Homebuyers.
The quick sale property leaders act as a private buyer and conduct their own
research into each property with an independent Rics chartered surveyor and neither
they nor the law requires a Hips pack to be provided. Director Julian King says:
\"The Commons debate simply proves how much thought has gone into the introduction of
Hips. Less than an hour was spent debating the introduction of a system which is not
ready to roll out.

\"The Hips introduction is seriously distorting the property market already with
thousands of people marketing their property ahead of June 1st. As the UK\'s leading
fast purchase property firm, we are very aware of the problems people face when
needing to sell their property through this inefficient system we have. Delays,
costs and problems in the chain are all too familiar. Adding Hips is simply going to
cause further distress.\"
